A block theme for plant nurseries, garden centres and gardening businesses. Works as a shop with WooCommerce and, without it, as a gardening services site.

== Description ==

Vivero is a block theme for plant nurseries, garden centres and gardening businesses. It is built for the block editor: no page builder, no custom fields, no settings screen to learn.

It works in two ways, and switches on its own:

* **With WooCommerce** it shows product grids, categories, a weekly offer and customer reviews.
* **Without WooCommerce** the same front page becomes a gardening services page: the six most requested jobs with a starting price, and how to book. Nothing breaks and no section is left empty.

Everything is a block pattern, so the demo you see is the demo you get: drop a pattern, change the photos and the text, done.

**What is inside**

* 17 block patterns: front page, services front page, guarantees, new arrivals, best sellers, offer band, categories, about, reviews, closing call to action, newsletter, contact, garden services, header, footer, and the two photo bands for the About and Shop pages.
* 7 templates and 2 template parts (header and footer).
* Two typefaces travelling inside the theme, so no request is made to Google Fonts or any other server.
* A five-colour palette and a spacing scale defined in `theme.json`, editable from the Site Editor.
* No JavaScript of its own and no third-party requests.

**Requirements**

WordPress 6.6 or later and PHP 8.1 or later. WooCommerce is optional.

== Installation ==

1. Go to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme, choose the ZIP and install it.
2. Activate Vivero.
3. Create the three pages the header menu points to, so the links lead somewhere:
   * `quienes-somos` — insert the "About and figures" pattern.
   * `tienda` — with WooCommerce, the shop page the plugin creates, with this slug. Without WooCommerce, a page with the "Services list" pattern.
   * `contacto` — insert the "Contact" pattern.
4. You can also add the photo bands ("About page band" and "Shop page band") before the content of the About and Shop pages. The header turns transparent over those bands, exactly as it does on the front page.
5. The patterns are in the block inserter, under the "Vivero" categories. If you cannot see them, enable the pattern view in the inserter.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need WooCommerce? =

No. With WooCommerce the front page shows product grids; without it, the theme serves the services front page instead. Nothing else has to be changed.

= Why does the menu point to pages that do not exist yet? =

A theme cannot create content on install. The menu ships with the three usual pages of a nursery (About, Shop, Contact). Create them with the slugs above, or edit the menu in the Site Editor to point to your own pages.

= Can I remove the footer credit? =

Yes. The credit is a block inside the footer pattern: open the footer in the Site Editor and delete it.

= Are the photographs free to use? =

Yes. Every photograph in `assets/img/` was created for this theme and is released under CC0 1.0. The two typefaces are under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. See `license.txt`.

= Does the theme work with other plugins? =

It is a standard block theme. It does not require any plugin and does not add custom post types or shortcodes, so any plugin you install keeps working.

== Changelog ==

= 0.2.2 =
* Prepared for the WordPress.org theme directory: English readme and theme description, full GPL text in `license.txt` with the license of every bundled resource, English labels in `theme.json` and for the pattern categories.
* Optimised the screenshot and the photographs (the package went from 4.5 MB to 3.1 MB).
* Removed an orphan pattern file from the theme root that duplicated an existing pattern.

= 0.2.1 =
* Fixed the 404 and the search results templates. They carried PHP inside an HTML template and WordPress does not run PHP there, so visitors saw the source code instead of the message.

= 0.2.0 =
* Photo bands for the About and Shop pages.
* The white header menu is no longer global: it only applies on the front page and on pages that start with a photo band. On any other page the menu uses the theme colour, so it can no longer be white on white.
* The mobile hamburger follows the same rule.
* Block markup is exactly what WordPress saves (Cover, buttons, lists and separator), so the editor no longer warns about unexpected content.

= 0.1.1 =
* Fixed the front page menu: the hamburger stayed in the theme text colour over the photo (contrast 1.5:1).
* Fixed the mobile dropdown: links were white on the white panel.

= 0.1.0 =
* First version.
